The Best Travel Cards of 2024: For Maximum Rewards

Let your credit card work for you! With a little research and the right strategy, you can find a travel card that fits your needs and benefits your wallet.

I have done my Home. Work. And heavily vetted the top most beneficial credit cards you can get in 2024 if you want travel benefits.

Starting off with one of the most popular credit cards on the market, and the the best entry level card if you are just starting to get into travel credit cards.

ANNUAL FEE: This card has a 95$ annual fee, and is best for the occasional traveler.

Sign On Bonus: You get 60,000 in bonus points. Redeemed through their portal the 60,000 in points is worth $750 in free travel. And a $50 annual travel credit.

What Else You Get:

• Trip cancellation insurance, car rental, and lost luggage insurance.
• 5pts per dollar on travel booked through chase portal, and on lyft.
• 3pts on dining, streaming services and grocery orders.
• 2pts on all other travel.
• 1pt on everything else.
• And of course Zero foreign transaction fees.

Bonus Tip: Pair the Chase Sapphire Preferred (which gets you Chase portal access), with the Chase Freedom Unlimited card to get 1.5 points on your everyday purchases, instead of the 1pt. Then you can combine the points from both cards in the chase portal to maximize your point earnings.

If you are looking for a more robust travel card, and you don’t yet have the Capital One Venture X, it comes HIGHLY recommended.  

ANNUAL FEE: $395, but you get a $300 annual travel credit.

Sign On Bonus: 75,000 miles upon signing up for the card, and 10,000 miles on every anniversary.

What Else You Get:

• You get a $100 credit towards global entry or TSA precheck.
• Free Priority Pass lounge access for you and two guests, including 1300 lounges worldwide.
• 10 miles per dollar on hotels, rental cars
• 5 miles per dollar on flights booked through Capital One
• 2 miles per dollar on all other purchases.

This is not going to be your everyday spending card, and holds most benefits exclusively in travel perks. Best for the SERIOUS Traveler. The perks make it well worth the cost for the right person.

ANNUAL FEE: This card has a $695 annual fee, but ready to hear all the stuff you get (it’s a lot)?

Sign On Bonus: First of all 80,000 points after spending $8,000 in 6 months.

What Else You Get:

• $200 hotel credit on select hotels booked through American Express, and Instant status with Hilton and Marriott.
• $200 yearly airline credit

Pair this with the Amex Gold to maximize benefits. Earn 4X points on restaurants and groceries with the Gold card. Then move these points to your Amex portal to redeem for travel credits.

If you already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, this is a great card to add for a business owner. Even if you don’t have an LLC, you qualify as a business owner if make money some other way; like babysitting, or even selling on facebook marketplace.

ANNUAL FEE: $95, but there are other business card options with $0 fees.

Sign On Bonus: 100,000 bonus points after spending $8,000 in 3mo. That’s $1,000 cash back or $1,250 toward travel rewards.

What Else You Get:

•3 points per $1 on the first $150,000 spent on qualifying business purchases.
• 5 points per dollar on Lyft through 2025
• 1pt per dollar on all other purchases
• Earn 25% on travel redemptions in the chase portal.
• Employee cards at no additional cost
• No foreign transaction fees
• Travel and purchase coverage

If you are looking for a card with more diverse benefits, this might be a great option. You have strong reward categories in both travel, as well as restaurants and grocery.
